DEBUT BOOK COMING SOON!
Baby Bake Off (working title) is a brutally honest, darkly funny memoir about what happens when grief collides with the desperate desire to create life. When Lukas' father died, something shifted. He and Greg had never planned on having kids, but mortality has a way of changing your perspective. As gay men in Australia, surrogacy was their best path to biological parenthood, but they had no idea what they were signing up for.
What followed was five years of navigating Australia's altruistic surrogacy system, where you can't pay surrogates and finding someone willing to carry your child becomes an exercise in vulnerability, hope, and sheer persistence. Baby Bake Off documents the medical procedures, the emotional toll, the relationships tested under impossible pressure, and the final trimester under COVID-19 lockdowns. But more than that, it's about what drives people to extraordinary acts of love, both in creating family and in helping others create theirs.
About Lukas Stone
Lukas is a Sydney-based author, business owner, and content creator living with his husband Greg and his son Grayson, born via surrogacy in 2021 after a five-year journey that tested every limit of resilience, hope, and determination.
As a child he would wake up in the middle of the night and read books until sunrise. Studying advanced English at school introduced him to Shakespeare, Austen, and Keats, but discovering Thomas Harris changed everything.
Harris’ psychological thrillers and similar crime fiction ultimately shaped Lukas desire to pursue forensic science, proving books don't just entertain, they can change the direction of your entire life.
For years, Lukas loved storytelling through corporate work, but his writer identity truly crystallised during the creation of Baby Bake Off where he realised that the story wasn't just about documenting a journey, it was about finally claiming 'writer' as an identity, not just skillset.
